The winners of the first annual Foundation Awards were announced on the evening of Friday, June 11th 2010, live at Robert E. Howard Days in Cross Plains.

The Venarium Award — Emerging Scholar

WINNER: BARRETT, BARBARA: Compiling The Wordbook is just one of Barbara’s recent accomplishments. She is a frequent poster on the Cimmerian blog and had an article, “Six Degrees to Cross Plains,” published in the final volume of The Cimmerian.

HARRON, AL: In 2009 Al Herron became one of the stand-out voices on the Cimmerian blog. His witty and insightful posts bode well for his future in the Howardian arena.

The Black River Award — Special Achievement

WINNERS: BAUM, JACK and BARBARA: for finding and sharing their discovery of several Howard items with Project Pride, fans and scholars, including a trunk once owned by Isaac M. Howard, REH’s high school text book, and other volumes once belonging to the Howards.

FINN, MARK: for delivering a presentation to the entire student body of Cross Plains High School and attempting to dispel misconceptions and educate the youth of Cross Plains about their most famous native son.

KEEGAN, JIM and RUTH: for Jim and his wife Ruth’s continued writing and illustrating of “The Adventures of Two-Gun Bob,” a well-received comic strip running in Dark Horse’s REH line of comic books.
